MAIA's Features

FAQs

Last updated 1 day ago

Contact your workspace admin. They can help you in two ways:

  1. Delete your user and invite you again
  2. Create a permanent invitation link under Settings > Workspace > General and share it with you

Which file formats does MAIA support?

MAIA supports PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, CSV and XLSX as well as images in JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP format. CSV is switched on by default in new workspaces. MAIA analyses Excel files (.xlsx) in Agent Mode, see Analysing Excel files.

Older Excel files (.xls), Excel files with macros and password-protected files are not supported. You can save any plain text format as TXT and upload it. MAIA can also read photos of documents saved as PDF using ADA.

For information on future file formats, see Popular Feature Requests.

Can MAIA read XML files, for instance process diagrams?

You can't upload XML files directly, but MAIA understands XML structures very well. You have two options: paste the contents of the XML file straight into the chat, or save the file with the extension .txt and upload it. This works very well for process diagrams, for example.

Which browsers does MAIA support?

We recommend Chrome or Edge. All features are fully available and thoroughly tested there.

Which page numbers does MAIA recognise?

MAIA splits documents into individual pages and numbers them starting at 1. MAIA always knows these page numbers. With ADA, MAIA also recognises the page number printed on the document itself, which is available as additional information in some cases.

Who can share file collections?

MAIA has three roles: User, Admin and Owner. Whoever owns or manages a file collection can share it with individual people or the entire workspace, regardless of their role. Learn more in Sharing collections.

Does MAIA have voice input?

Yes. Since release 1.19, you can dictate using the microphone icon in the chat input. Learn more in Using voice input in MAIA.

Why does the upload of my document fail?

There are various reasons why an upload can fail:

PDF-specific problems:

  • Faulty PDF files: Even if other programs can still display the PDF, it may be technically faulty
  • Password-protected PDFs: These cannot be processed
  • Invalid PDF structure: Files that end in .pdf but are not real PDFs
  • Complex PDF content: PDFs with embedded programs or unusual character strings

CSV-specific problems:

  • Non-standard CSV structure: If the file deviates too much from the CSV standard

What is MAIA generally not suitable for?

MAIA is not a statistics, pattern recognition or forecasting tool. For extensive statistical analysis, pattern recognition in large data sets and forecasts, analytical AI or business intelligence solutions are a better fit. MAIA can analyse individual Excel tables in Agent Mode and recalculate sums, counts and matches with cell references, see Analysing Excel files.

What happens to files and collections when a user is deleted from a workspace?

  • The user's files in collections shared with the entire workspace: ownership passes to the workspace owner.
  • The user's collections shared with the entire workspace: ownership passes to the workspace owner.
  • All other collections and files owned by the user: they are deleted.
