1.16 Image Support & Claude 4.6 (Apr 16, 2026)
Last updated About 1 hour ago
We are excited to share a major MAIA release with you! With version 1.16, MAIA gains two powerful new capabilities: image support for visual content and a significant model upgrade to Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6.
πΌοΈ Image Support, Visual knowledge finally unlocked
Industrial knowledge doesn't live in text alone. Technical schematics, assembly instructions, blueprints, wiring diagrams, a huge amount of expert knowledge is stored in visual formats. With Release 1.16, MAIA can now understand and reason over images.
Upload images directly or include them in your documents. MAIA analyzes visual content in context and combines it with your existing knowledge base. This is especially valuable for industrial use cases where critical information is often captured in drawings and diagrams rather than written documentation.
What this means for you:
Technical schematics and blueprints can now be queried and understood by MAIA
Assembly instructions and wiring diagrams become searchable knowledge
Implicit knowledge stored in visual formats is now accessible to your entire team
MAIA combines visual and textual information for more complete answers

π§ Claude Opus 4.6 & Sonnet 4.6, a new level of intelligence
MAIA now runs on Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6, Anthropic's most advanced models to date. Both are available in the chat, in standard as well as thinking mode, and are also integrated into the Automodel, which automatically selects the right model for your query. This upgrade delivers a noticeable improvement in reasoning quality, context handling, and response accuracy across all use cases.
What you'll notice:
Significantly improved reasoning for complex, multi-step questions
Better understanding of technical context and domain-specific language
More precise and reliable answers, especially for demanding industrial queries
Enhanced ability to work with large amounts of information simultaneously
