Popular Feature Requests

Last updated 1 day ago

We love that our users have so many great ideas about how to make MAIA better. This page lists the features we are asked about most often and where they stand.

We don't commit to features beyond the next six weeks, but every piece of feedback goes into our planning. What's coming next is always up to date on the public roadmap.

Web access

Status: web search available since release 1.14

MAIA can search the web to fill knowledge gaps. You switch web search on or off per request in the chat's plus menu. Learn more in release 1.14.

Regularly importing entire websites or accessing pages behind a login is not possible yet. If there are websites you'd like to use in MAIA permanently, let your contact person know or write to support@getmaia.ai.

Excel and other file formats

Status: Excel available since release 1.21

MAIA analyses Excel files in .xlsx format in Agent Mode and backs every statement with the cell it comes from. Learn more in release 1.21.

Currently supported are PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, CSV, XLSX and images in JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP format. Older Office formats such as .xls, Excel files with macros, password-protected files and Outlook archives (PST) are not supported. More file formats are on the roadmap. If a format you need is missing, let your contact person know or write to support@getmaia.ai.

Outlook and Teams

Status: Outlook available since release 1.22, Teams not yet

You can use emails and attachments from Outlook as sources in chat. A workspace owner or admin has to enable Outlook once. Learn more in release 1.22.

There is no Microsoft Teams integration yet. Integrations with Microsoft 365 and other systems via the open MCP standard are on the public roadmap.

Images and diagrams

Status: image understanding available since release 1.16, image generation on the roadmap

MAIA analyses images in your documents and can show them as sources in answers. You can also paste images directly into the chat. Learn more in release 1.16.

MAIA does not generate new images yet. Image generation in chat and charts from numbers are on the public roadmap.

ChatGPT-like features

Status: partly available

Many convenience features you know from ChatGPT are now part of MAIA:

  • Drag and drop: drag files straight into the chat (release 1.21).
  • Your own tone and context: use Custom Instructions to tell MAIA how to answer (release 1.23).
  • Finding chats again: chat search looks through the titles and content of your chats (release 1.20).
  • Working in the background: MAIA keeps working on a request while you switch to another chat (release 1.17).

Projects, a shared place for the files, knowledge and chats of an initiative, are on the public roadmap.

Creating files

Status: available since release 1.22

In Agent Mode, MAIA creates files on request, for example a report as PDF, a Word document or a simple Excel table. The file appears right below the answer, ready to download. Learn more in release 1.22.

Charts, formulas, macros and letterheads are not supported yet. If you need a particular output format, let your contact person know or write to support@getmaia.ai.
