1.19 Dictation & file picker (Jul 28, 2026)

Last updated 26 days ago

Release 1.19 introduces three new features and includes a few bug fixes. Here’s an overview of the highlights.

With version 1.19, you can speak to MAIA instead of typing. In addition, the new file picker makes finding files in MAIA much easier, especially when used with SharePoint. A new model, GPT 5.6, is also available.

This release introduces three new features at once:
1️⃣ Dictation feature
2️⃣ New file picker (beta)
3️⃣ ChatGPT 5.6 as a new model in MAIA

1️⃣ 🎙️ Dictation feature: Speak instead of typing

Starting now, you can speak your queries instead of typing them. You speak into the microphone, and the transcribed text appears directly in the chat input field. This is handy for longer queries or when your hands are full.

Dictation starts and stops right in the chat input field
The transcribed text appears clearly in the input field
Text you’ve already typed remains intact while dictating
Microphone status, connection loss, and unavailable statuses are clearly displayed
Dictation works with existing chat statuses, such as an ongoing reply or a disabled input field

2️⃣ 📁New file picker (file selection feature)

The file picker has been completely redesigned: it’s more organized, with filter and sort options and a robust search function. This lets you find files much faster, especially in larger data collections and in SharePoint.

Here’s what’s new:

✅ Filter and sort options, including by “Last Modified” and “Author.”
Search across the current folder and all filenames.
Columns can be hidden so that even long file and folder names are fully visible.
Flat navigation instead of a nested folder tree.
Path displayed above the search bar for quick navigation back.

🧪 Why beta? The new file picker is initially available only to selected users. We’re testing it with them first before rolling it out to everyone.

3️⃣ 🤖 New model: GPT 5.6

✅ GPT 5.6 is now available as an option in MAIA Chat.
