1.17 Background Chats & Adaptive Controls (Apr 24, 2026)
Last updated About 1 month ago
With version 1.17, we are giving you more control over how you work with MAIA. This release focuses on flexibility and speed β so you can adapt MAIA to your workflow, not the other way around.
π¬ Background Chats β Work on multiple questions at once
MAIA can now process chats in the background. Start a conversation, ask a complex question β and while MAIA is working on it, simply open a new chat and keep going. You no longer have to wait for one answer before moving on to the next.
Background chats run in parallel and their progress is clearly visible in the interface. Once MAIA has finished, you can jump back in and review the result at any time.
What this means for you:
No more waiting β start new chats while MAIA is still working on others
Multiple questions can be processed at the same time
Clear overview of all running and completed chats
Ideal for busy workdays when you need answers to several topics in parallel
βοΈ Toggles for Web Search & Insight Hub β You decide what MAIA uses
MAIA is designed to deliver high-quality, thorough answers β and that sometimes takes a moment. Features like Web Search and Insight Hub generation add valuable depth, but not every question requires them.
With Release 1.17, you can now toggle Web Search and Insight Hub generation on and off directly in the chat. This gives you full control over the trade-off between depth and speed: turn everything on for complex research questions, or switch them off when you need a quick, focused answer from your knowledge base.
What this means for you:
New toggles for Web Search and Insight Hub generation directly in the chat
Faster responses when you don't need external sources or insight generation
Full depth and quality when you do β just one click away
An adaptive, comfortable experience that fits your current task
π§ Bug fixes
β Minor stability and performance improvements
